How to heat up your home and cool your bill

You home heating system is an important business. Thermal energy costs you more than it should. This heat  is generated in a centralized location, than is distributed to your home via pipe networks. Usually these pipes are in poor condition, being a few decades old. A large amount of thermal energy gets lost on the way. And this loss goes right into your bill. This is why  when thinking of buying a house  you ask yourself: how much will I pay when winter comes?

More and more people think of  installing  a boiler, and they are right. A boiler is used for central heating and for having constant hot water. Properly selected and installed, it could mean a great deal to your comfort and to your expenses.

When choosing a boiler  the most important criteria are:

Its efficiency, the heating power and its efficiency depend on the boiler you use , its dimensions and its type. Also, it matters the quality of its combining parts. A normal wall boiler, with a power between 24 kW and 31 kW, can heat up a surface of 200-290 square meters. These is like heating two four rooms apartments with one normal boiler.

The water flow, its pressure and constant temperature are a must. With a good boiler, someone could wash the dishes while another takes a bath.

Dimensions; do you have a place were it can fit? The boiler is placed depending on the resources it uses; the location of gas, cold water and electricity networks. Due to these factors, the best location usually is in the kitchen, in a balcony, or in a closed space providing access to all connections.

The Boiler’s design; probably you will see it very often. If you bought the fridge taking its aspect into consideration,  you will do the same now.

Warranty and post warranty service. You will probably need for an expert to check it at the beginning of every winter. So it is good to trust the company you buy from because you will have to rely on them from now on.

A thermostat will help you save money by starting the boiler only when it is needed. Once you set it to a temperature it will activate the boiler only when the room’s temperature goes beneath it.

Though, you could find new companies wanting to get noticed by giving good deals, it would be best to go with known brands. Don’t forget that once winter comes you have to rely on your boiler.  Instead of experimenting you can choose a known brand as Saunier-Duval, a leading brand in the heating business in France, Britain and Italy.

Also, do not forget to select proper additional installations like heat distribution routes, radiators and taps. Replace those old radiators. Because of their age and the previously used heating system you should replace them with new ones. Thus, you can choose from a wide range of steel, cast iron or aluminum. Equip each one with thermostatic valve and air vent valve. Steel radiators give the best thermal power and are best for heating up your flat. A good choice would be radiators from Vogel&Noot. These are made of 1.25 mm thick steel sheet.  This allows heat transmission all along the fin leading to a more intense heat transfer. And what Saunier-Duval is for boilers, Vogel&Noot is for radiators.
